I am from the UK, have lived in Thailand for 3 yrs and currently on an o-a retirement extension of stay visa. My husband also from the UK has the same. However we will now struggle to have funds (800,000) for each of us. We are considering him continuing with me as a spouse so only one set of funds is required.
1. Is it possible to change and What documents etc do we need etc?
2. Is there an alternative option?
TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK expat living in Thailand on an O-A retirement extension is considering changing their visa status to a spouse visa to meet the financial requirements more easily. They ask if it's possible to change the visa type and what documents are needed, as well as if there are alternative options available. Community responses suggest visiting the local Immigration office to get specific guidelines on changing visa status, as requirements may vary across different immigration offices in Thailand.

Currently on an o-a retirement extension of stay visa, at least you mention all the different options in one line. Easy part is to visit your local Immigration office to ask for the hand out with requirements for 1 of you to apply for a new Extension of Stay based on being over 50 yeas of age and for the other the hand out with requirements to apply for the Extension of Stay based on being a dependent on the wedded partner with a long stay inside Thailand. There is no one list fits all than the ore than 76 Immigration Offices in Thailand.
