Hi Tod and Team... my husband and I ( both above 50 , Singapore passport) have OA visa ( retirement visa obtained from Thai embassy in HK) till end of this year.

My question is can we change OA visa to O ( retirement obtained in Thailand ) because we don’t want to get the insurance from Thailand. We have insurance that we bought from hk. We have also put 800K each to our individual account.

If our visa expire beginning Nov... when should we start the process of getting an O visa ( should it be possible)

Must we fly out of the country ?!

Your advice is greatly appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
This user is seeking guidance on the possibility of changing their OA retirement visa to an O visa in Thailand. They hold an OA visa valid until the end of the year but prefer not to purchase Thai insurance as they already have coverage from Hong Kong. They inquire about the process for making this change, including whether they need to leave the country and when to start the process, given their visa expiration in November.

Regarding our 800K each... we didn’t know that it can’t be joint account but individual account. We TT 1.6 million from HSBC HK to Bangkok bank to our joint account. Which later split the amount to each to our individual account. Is this still valid ?

@Christine ****
I believe so. Just have the deposit notices to show immigration if asked.

From your prior post it appears you got your OA visa in late 2019.

What is the validity dates of your OA visas?

When did you first enter Thailand with your OA visa?

Our insurance don’t include outpatient and we have no intention of getting insurance for that.

Thot the insurance for OA has to be from the list provided for from immigration

You mentioned prior to the end of second year, we have to depart Thailand and re enter with a Non O retirement visa... so we apply for it before we leave the country ?!

When should we begin to process should we want a Non O visa ?

Hope the virus thingy will clear by then so travel is permitted. Thank you

Then prior to the end of the second year you will have to depart Thailand and reenter either with a Non O visa or visa exempt arrival or Tourist visa...then begin the process to get the Non O Extension for retirement.
