I want to change my O-A to an O visa. Is it important that I cancel my current visa Extension first or can I just bounce across a border, get a 60 visa exemption stamp and let my current Extension lapse?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster wants to know if they need to cancel their current O-A visa extension before switching to a Non-O visa. Comments suggest that it is not necessary to wait for the current extension to expire; they can leave Thailand, get a 60-day visa exemption stamp across the border, and then apply for the Non-O visa in-country. It has been confirmed that exiting without a re-entry permit will effectively end the current extension. Additionally, one commenter noted a requirement for a significant financial statement (800k) for the new visa application.

No problem at all stamping out on this current extension, coming in on a visa exempt and then applying for the in country Non-O visa from that 60 day entry stamp at your immigration office
You wouldn't have to wait for this extension to run out seeing as when you exit you stamped OUT on it 🙂
