TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus appears to be that you typically cannot change from a Marriage Visa to a Retirement Visa before the renewal date. Instances of changing visas out of sequence are rare and usually happen under specific circumstances, like divorce. However, some users mentioned that if you meet the financial requirements (such as having the necessary 800k baht in the bank), it might be possible at certain immigration offices. Another option presented is to leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, which would cancel your current extension and allow you to apply for the Non-O Retirement Visa upon re-entry.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.

I did ask this question at my immigration office out of curiosity.
They said as long as you have had the 800k in the bank for the required amount of time you can change.
But we all know, everywhere is different.

You could exit the country without a re- entry permit which would cancel your extension of stay then renter and immediately apply for the Non-O based on retirement.
I meant from Non O retired to DTV (sorry about typos)

the only time I've seen them allow a reason change "out of sequence" <- as in before the renewal date of an extension, is if the couple is getting divorced.
If you're asking can you walk in, cancel your marriage extension and apply for a retirement extension I would say no, (but that is just because I haven't seen it ever happen except as I pointed out when the couple divorces)
