TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can book an appointment online for your annual Non-B visa extension at CWT to avoid queuing early in the morning. The comments provide a link for online booking and discuss different sections for visa extensions related to employment.

thanks —I went last month to transfer the info to a new passport and I saw that M section was rather “quiet” and one of the immigration guys I have dealt with over the years was behind anONLINE QUEUE desk so was curious.

Are you getting an extension on your Non-B based on employment as a teacher (where you'd use section N) or as another type of employee (where you'd use Section M)?
