Is it possible to apply online for 1-year extension based on marriage to Thai national?

[members only]

**2.19 Family member of a Thai residence (Non-Immigrant)

**7. Residence certificate and alien registration certificate of the alien granted residence permit in Thailand.

I don't have this one, never needed it for this extension.

So do I (and my wife) need to go apply in person at Chaengwattana?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the application process for a one-year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. It confirms that the extension cannot be applied for online and that both the applicant and their Thai spouse must visit the Chaengwattana Immigration Office in person for the application. Comments provide additional insights, including requirements such as pre-booking an appointment online, the payment process, and notes on what documents are needed during the visit.

YES and EVERY time when you need extension. Moreover, IF you have child, now or in the future, you ALL must go to CW Immigration. So, expect some kingergarden experience at IMM office ๐Ÿ™‚

The things to make life easier:

You can pre-book your visit online

You can go alone to pick-up final stamp after a month, no family members needed

1900 THB payment please make a sum w/o changes, officers will be thankful. You can withdraw 1900 from ATM.

AT CW IMM you have 45 days to apply before your current extension expires, more flexible, many provinces will give you only 30 days.

By my experience, the more years you do extensions, the more relaxed officers will be, and whole process will be faster.

(logically) why you must come with whole family - IMM will take your photo together (sometimes you hold marriage certificate in hand, sometimes not, they tell you) and if have child, chill will be in that photo too. Also, IMM will give your wife several papers to sign off, and they also check HER documents (ID and House registration)

Nope ...you cannot get the one year extension of stay as Married to Thai using the online application system.

Both of you need to get the list of requirements for the One year extension of stay as Married to Thai from your Thai Immigration office... Which you say is CW Chaengewattana in Bangkok

the newly introduced extension of stay online is limited to those who have entered Thailand with a Thai tourist visa or visa exempt entry. AND....It still requires a visit to the Thai immigration office to actually get the stamp in your passport.
