Can I apply for a Thailand visa as a remote worker before my December visit, or is it too risky?

I’m from New York and looking to enter Thailand on Dec 12 for a one month tourist visit (living there will probably be a next year thing). If I submit my visa application as a remote worker now (I own my own business), would it be approved in time? Or should I not risk it and just apply with my next trip at a later date?

I’ve read here that I shouldn’t leave my country while applying for the visa. I can apply after my trip but I’m worried the DTV rules will change and be more difficult to obtain.

One month should be more than enough if you submit a completely correct application and write your intended entry date as Dec. 12th, supported by flight tickets evidence.

Check how long NY takes to approve DTV and apply within that limit while you there. You could also go to Thailand and apply from a nearby country like Cambodia, Vietnam or Laos

Not sure where to check that. I've been trying to google and search but haven't found anything from NY (and not a lot from the states either).

Are you saying I could just take a vacation to a place like Vietnam and apply there for easy and quick approval?

PROCESSING TIME

It is highly recommended to apply for a visa approximately one month before your intended travel date.

The visa application must be submitted online no more than 90 days and no later than 14 days before your trip.

Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary as well as the right to reject any application without having to provide reason.

Looks like I'm cutting it really close with 20 something days

Anonymous participant Yes, if they need further documents then it delays the approval. Search the FB threads for postings from NY applicants. Some postings show around 3 weeks to approve. You can apply in any country that allows non residents to apply. Many who are in Thaialnd apply in Vietnam, Cambodia etc, check the threads for many posts of what to do. Vietnam is 5 business days to approve, Cambodia 10 business days except day of submission.
