Hi everyone....I've done some initial research and read a few of the posts here. I'm still unsure about 2 things:

1. Can this all be done online? I read that it can, but if so why are so many people going to embassies?

2.I understand that I *might* be asked for monthly income proof but has anyone been approved if that amount is very low?

I most recently lost my main gig (even with that I was only making about $1000/mo.) and am currently doing some teaching and looking into other options.

Thanks for any relevant information.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The visa application process can be completed online; however, some applicants may need to attend an interview or pay the fee at the embassy in person. While low monthly income may not disqualify you, having additional savings can strengthen your application. A minimum bank balance of 500,000 baht or foreign currency equivalent is often required.

The application has to be done online, outside of Thailand. You will only go to an Embassy if you are called to attend an interview, or you have to go to the Embassy to pay for your visa after you have submitted the application, for example in Lao PDR

You will only be asked for proof of income, if you are freelance, or employed by a foreign company that allows you to work remotely in Thailand. They may ask you to highlight on your bank statements the income obtained from your freelance work. If they don’t ask, don’t offer the information.

The main financial requirement is that you have minimum 500,000 baht or foreign currency equivalent in your bank account, for at least 1 month (some embassies require 3 months) before your application

All online, some attend in person interview or pay application fee in person. Low income is ok but having additional savings will strengthen your application. They want to know you can support yourself financially via income, savings or combo of both

The application is online, but you need to be in the country (jurisdiction) you are applying via. So if you are applying via the Thai embassy in Cambodia, you need to physically be in Cambodia. Then, in addition, some people are called in for interviews, while some embassies require you to pay the application fee in person.
