Are there additional fees for an e-visa upon arrival in HCMC and is a bus ticket sufficient proof of onward travel?

For anyone who applied for the e-visa prior to arriving in HCMC, were there additional fees at the airport? I paid for the e-visa app online, but am unclear whether there are other fees once you receive the actual visa.

Also, will a bus ticket be accepted as proof of onward travel? And for the rental contract, do you need a photocopy of the landlord's ID? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
In response to the query regarding e-visa fees at the airport, it appears that those who obtained their e-visa online did not face additional fees upon arrival at HCMC, as they proceeded directly to passport control. It is crucial to differentiate between e-visas and visas on arrival, with the former typically not incurring further charges. As for proof of onward travel, a bus ticket should be acceptable, but it's advisable to check specific requirements to avoid any issues. Regarding rental contract details, the need for a photocopy of the landlord's ID wasn't specifically addressed in the comments.

evisa and visa on arrival are totally different. An evisa is paid on application online, when you arrive you head straight to passport control, there is no further cost. Visa on arrival invloves an agent fee then payment for your visa when you arrive. Don't confuse the two they are very different.

thanks! I've applied for my e-visa and should be hearing back about it by tomorrow. I actually didn't realize they offered visa on arrivals, I thought you had to apply in advance. Good to know.

Oh I must have had the visa on arrival then, and used the service for the approval letter. I wasn’t aware there was another method.

Got my Vietnam visa at the site below late last year for a trip in January. Paid nothing upon arrival in HCMC, walked right up to immigration with passport and printed visa and was stamped in.

I can only speak to my experience arriving in Hanoi, but the e-visa fee was only the agents fee and you have to actually pay for the visa when you arrive. The exact amount depends on which visa you selected. (I had selected a 90 day multi entry visa, and the cost was $50 USD)

They asked for no ongoing travel or accommodation information. It was a bunch of 18 year old girls wearing military uniforms from 1975.

if it’s helpful I used the Vietnam Visa Pro service to get the approval letter, and it went smoothly

Thank you! I'll bring some extra cash then, and good to know about the flight/accommodation.
