TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, South Africans can enter Thailand through the Pedang land border as long as they meet the necessary entry criteria, which include having a valid passport, sufficient funds, proof of onward travel, and accommodation.

The borders with Malaysia are as far as i know not closed for South Africans. But I guess the person needs to meet the criteria to enter Thailand, like valid passport, place in passport for stamps, prepared to show 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in cash, proof of onward travel and proof of accommodation.

are you doing a border run and have your own vehicle?

I personally go to Wang Prachan border over Pedang Besar or Sadao border.

Two main reasons for choosing Wang Prachan.

* It's not as busy, there's less tour groups, there's no train station and there's basically no trucks.

* The Malaysian immigration checkpoint is about 100m walk and the whole process takes 15-20 mins.

(I have a Non-O visa)
