I just got denied a SETV in Hanoi. I have had 4 SETVs back to back so no surprises there. They just flipped through my passport and said no on the spot, so no application made and no fee paid. There are no visa exemptions in my passport. No land border crossings either. I live in Chiang Mai. I only need one more entry into Thailand (30 days is fine).

Would my best bet be to fly to Laos and try to get a visa exemption at a land border crossing? If my chances are good I might try this. I’ve read a lot of posts here but would appreciate some advice. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on entering Thailand after being denied a Special Tourist Visa (SETV) in Hanoi, despite having had multiple SETVs previously. They reside in Chiang Mai and inquire if flying to Laos for a visa exemption at a land border crossing is a viable option, as they only require one more entry into Thailand for 30 days.
