Are border runs still possible?
Answer summary
Yes, border runs are still possible in Thailand, but with certain restrictions. People can undertake border runs daily; however, those using visa exemptions face limitations, with a maximum of two full stays allowed per year. It's noted that even with a tourist visa, there could be heightened scrutiny from immigration officials. Recent discussions suggest changes to visa exemption entry rules may be forthcoming, and those interested in border runs should stay updated on the Thai Royal Gazette for official announcements.

Right now you can do it but you will get Only 30 days not 60, 2 border Runs per year they „allow“

Better you fligh out and get the Tourist Visa (60-30)

It is. He said two FULL stays meaning if you max out your visa free allowance + get an extension. Depending on the officer, you might already have issues if you merely max out your stay without getting an extension and attempt to do more than 2 entries.

On the other hand, provided you are coming and going, never spending more than a few days or let's say less than 50% of the permitted time on any given visa exempt entry and don't get extensions of stay, then you should be allowed to come and go frequently with no specific limit on the number of entries.

For example, you fly in from Sydney, spend 3 nights in Bangkok then fly to Guangzhou, spending 10 days there then back to Bangkok for 1 night before heading home. You do this again 2 months later, this time re-entering Thailand twice in the space of let's say 3 weeks. That will be allowed without issue.

I spent 22 of the last 24 months in Thailand and that rule/law "changed" what six or 7 months ago?

RadiantCamel1017 except after that rule they let me in two more times. I even extended a land entry which also ppl said isn't possible now. I spent basically the last 2 years in Thailand. The law isn't really being enforced in the black and white form being touted.

We wait for the publishing in the Thai Royal Gazette the new rules for border runs. Visa Exempt Entry changes coming, per reports.

@Tanisha ******
you can do more than 2 on your own but if on visa waiver 60 they could say no to you. Once I goes back to 30 day waiver the 2 land entry per year rule is back in effect. Dtv can do but lao sometimes doesnt like it

I think he's thinking of return to Thailand and try to stay using Visa Exempt Entry as he likely has been doing in the recent year.
