TLDR : Answer Summary
The Mae Sai border bounce fee has generated questions about whether it has officially changed from a $10 charge. Recent comments indicate that the standard $10 US bill must be in mint condition, or it may be rejected. One suggestion is to carry both a 500 baht fee in coins and a crisp $10 note to see which payment method is preferred at the border.

The last reports were that the 10 US bill needs to be in MINT condition or they deny accepting it

No idea. But why not take 500 baht in 1-baht coins with you and a nice, crisp 10$ banknote. Then see which they prefer...
I can pretty much tell you what they’d prefer if you did that. They’d prefer to send you back to the Thai border after refusing to stamp you in to Myanmar.
