Will my overseas COVID insurance be accepted for the Thai Pass?

I'm presently looking at covid insurance, there seems to be a group feeling that the Thai pass is more likely to except a Thai insurance company rather than a outside provider. Thing is of course that the Thai companies are not covering large parts of the repercussions of covid hassles .eg hotel stays etc . As opposed to an insurance I can buy in my own country ( Australia ) . With home brought I can get full coverage for all aspects of the covid hassle, but will Thai pass except the outside coverage? Would welcome some input as to what is enjoyable please.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion revolves around the acceptance of overseas COVID insurance for the Thai Pass. Many contributors shared their experiences indicating that foreign insurance providers, including German, UK, and Australian companies, often meet the Thai Pass requirements as long as they include specific wording about COVID coverage. There is a general consensus that while some prefer Thai insurance companies, overseas insurance that meets the stipulated requirements is also accepted. However, it's advised to scrutinize the insurance policy's wording to ensure compliance with Thai regulations.

Thanks all. Seems it OK with home insurance, at least they will cover all problems.

As long as the wording is correct, you should be good. And not all Covid insurance is the same, so make sure to read the details/fine print etc.

Personally I think its a scam.

I wasn't able to use my home health insurance because the requirements specified the insurance company provide a document with wordage: "Will pay up to $50,000 for covid related illness". My insurance company has some benefits paid for hospitalization and emergency, blah blah, but not the wordage required by ThaiPass.

I get the impression its not health insurance, it's travel insurance, which my health insurance doesn't provide. The do provide emergency care outside of the US...

But maybe ThaiPass has gotten more laxed in the past couple of months.

Some people in this group keep shouting AXA and LUMA as soon as someone asks for the Thai pass insurance.

Those who don't shout that loud and are smart use an insurance company from their home country which normally offers much better policies.

And no, it's no problem at all to get approved with a foreign insurance.

There's no preference over the insurance company. Just show you meet the $20,000 requirement and you're fine

Accepted HSBC Annual Travel Insurance (UK) for my wife’s Thaipass. Back in 3 days!

I've travelled a few times over the past 2 years and never had a problem with my AXA (uk) policy.
