Can my mom extend her stay in Thailand beyond 144 days with her SETV?

My mom (Canadian) is arriving on an SETV (60 days) and would like to stay 144 days.

I thought she could leave and come back and get another 60 days and then leave one last time and get the 45-day visa exempt. However, I now fear that I am wrong about the extra 60 days.

If I was wrong, then alternately, I assume she could apply for an extension (30 days) following the SETV, then exit and return on a 45-day visa exempt, and then apply for an extension (30 days) again, giving her 165 days today. Is this correct?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) was incorrect about extending their mother's stay with an additional 60 days entry after the Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV). Instead, the correct approach involves the following steps: 60 days on the SETV, a 30-day extension, exiting Thailand and re-entering on a 45-day visa exemption followed by another 30-day extension. This would provide a total of 165 days, which covers the desired 144 days.

You could get the METV, which can, if planned correctly, give almost nine months

too late now but might be worth the effort for next winter. Thanks.

Remember that as things stand the 45 day visa exempt entry expires at the end of march and will return to 30 days

Maybe you're the one is a bit challenged with English. Your sentence has two phrases, the first describing the expiration of the 45-day program, and the second one being a declarative statement "and will return to 30 days."

maybe you struggle with English? "As things stand" means as things are right now. I've not got a crystal ball so stick with the facts as we know them.

Damn! Thanks so much. I didn't know.

No matter how much I try to stay on top of things, I still can't keep up...haha. We are so lucky to have you guys here. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Right. That's a good solution as well, thank you. She wants to do some travelling so we might snag the 45 exempt before March anyway, either way, there are a few ways we can do this and it shouldn't be too difficult. It's all about the math...haha.

Thanks for the help!

60 + 30 followed by 30 + 30 would still give 150 days if timed well so would still cover the 144 days

You are right, the extra 60 days entry is wrong. Later half of your post is the correct understanding.

60 days SETV entry + 30 days tourism extension + 45 days visa-exempt entry by border-run + 30 days tourism extension would work.

Single Entry Tourist Visa is valid to enter Thailand only once.
