I am travelling to Thailand in January/2026 for 4 weeks. Would I have a problem re-entering Thailand in April? and then apply for a Non-O visa for marriage. I have a visa-exempt passport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to travel to Thailand for four weeks in January 2026 and is concerned about potential issues re-entering Thailand in April 2026, after applying for a Non-O visa for marriage. Comments highlight that the user should apply for the Non-O visa through the e-visa system before arrival. Additionally, dependency on having a Thai bank account for the application process and the requirement of marriage documentation for the Non-O visa are emphasized.

That may depend on your previous entry history of 2025.

Non-Immigrant O Visa is designed to allow the holder to stay in Thailand for an extended period. This type of visa can be obtained at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate in your home country, a country neighboring Thailand, or inside Thailand at a local Immigration department

Why? That's the least efficient way of doing it.

Go to Thailand in January, that's fine.

Then after you leave, apply for a non-O visa from a Thai embassy through the e-visa system. Then when you arrive in Thailand you are guaranteed to not have any issues and you'll be ready to apply for your extension after 1-2 months.

The only way your plan works is if you ALREADY have a Thai bank account. And even if you do, it's going to require AT LEAST 2 extra trips to immigration which is not a pleasant thing for most people.

Makes sense, but wouldn't I have to qualify for a Non-O before getting married? how does that work? We only plan to marry in May, when I return to Thailand again.

@Mike *****
you can only qualify for a Non-O before you are married if you can do so for another reason such as being over 50 or are the parent of a Thai child for example

@Mike *****
then your won't work. You cannot apply for the non-O visa in Thailand unless you have a Thai bank account. And you cannot open a Thai bank account as a tourist. You would need to get married first and then leave Thailand to apply for the visa from a Thai embassy.

Also this is why you give all the details in the original post, because no one can properly answer your question without knowing the details.
