TLDR : Answer Summary
If you enter Thailand under the Special Tourist Visa (STV) in May, you will not likely be able to stay for the full 9 months. It appears that the maximum stay eligible is around 6 months, and to extend further, an application for a third extension must be submitted before a September 30 deadline. Following this procedure could allow you to stay until December 30, but there are concerns about the stringent requirements and the possibility that the government may not renew this visa after the initial period.

I’m closing comments. The OP should be aware about the extreme restrictions and requirements on the STV and the extension of stay . It’s also a new visa that the government will not renew, and not too many people have this visa.
Do your research before selecting this visa!

it looks like you need to do the application for the third extension short BEFORE September 30 deadline, and it will get you 3 more months, taking you to December 30. James Miller posted the picture that interpretes the rules regarding STV. It is all there, you just have to read it

Looks like only eligible for 6 months, June July August, then extending again gets you into November and the door is closed.
