Will Emirates from the UK accept a train ticket as proof of onward travel out of Thailand within the 30 days visa exempt period
Answer summary
The acceptance of a train ticket as proof of onward travel when flying Emirates from the UK to Thailand during the 30-day visa exempt period varies based on who is checking you in. While many users report that train or bus tickets can be accepted, some caution that it depends on the personnel's knowledge of the rules. It's suggested to check Timatic for current requirements or consider purchasing a nominal proof ticket online. Some travelers have successfully used various forms of transportation tickets alongside proof of accommodation.

Yes, we used a bus ticket and proof of accommodation in Laos. We have a train ticket to Malaysia this time.

Book accommodation which can be cancelled as extra proof if you can.

Carol Samuel yes, we were asked and had to show them this proof on my phone. Things can change all the time so best check just in case. They just want to see proof of exit within the 30 days visa exempt if you’re trying on that.

The easiest way is to check with the airline. Or you can pay a little extra, around $80, for an exit ticket to either Malaysia or Vietnam. Malaysia is fun, and there are so many tourists here!

Yes most do. Even a bus ticket. You will always get the odd idiot. An exit route is an exit route.

They should do but as a previous comment said it could depend on the person checking you in, if they do not know the rules you could have a problem. There are websites that in effect rent you a real ticket with a real PNR number which you can use as proof of onward travel. onwardticket.com does it, about 20 euros I think, probably lots of other sites maybe cheaper.

Ian Taylor every country in the world I do this for.

These days I just chat got the ticket 🤣😂

Where do you see such a requirement?
Alastair ********************
ExcitingCrocodile1218 It's a requirement for a tourist visa.

ExcitingCrocodile1218 the airline can deny boarding
Rud **********
ExcitingCrocodile1218 every tourist need to have a return/ onward ticket from Thailand.. inside 30 days without a visa ..
Thaimer ******
@Rud *********
need only if they ask for it. They never asked me so far.

@Rud *********
it’s impossible not to board me. Once they ask me for proof of leaving Thailand I’ll just buy random cheapest ticket from Bangkok to any neighbor countries in front of them. It takes 5 minutes to buy. It will be cheapest possible ticket for 30-40€ that i would never use
Rud **********
@Thaimer *****
It will not be a happy day when they not board you.. and they are checking a lot more these days , than before .. New times .. But the airline should not really avoid checking it.. Bon Voyage

Where do you see it written?
Steve *******
Eric Mullard Nope because the 30 days extention of stay has to be applied for and is only issued at the discretion of the Immigration Office where you apply
Steve *******
ExcitingCrocodile1218 It's written by Thai Immigration
Ronny *********
Eric Mullard Emigration rules for entry and for leaving can be different . If a traveler is denied entry by immigration upon arrival, the airline is legally and financially responsible for flying them back to their origin point. That is why now most request an outbound or return ticket. Many countries fine airlines heavily if they bring in a passenger who lacks proper entry or exit documents and because your original time you can stay (without extension) do not match the returndate they play it safe and ask for an outbound ticket. What you can do is buy a refundable ticket or a cheap trow away outbound ticket. Or confirm first with your carrier that there is no problem.
Rud **********
Eric Mullard If you now you gonna extend, the the immigration want you to apply for a 60 day visa.. Everything has to do with 100% control over tourists in and out of Thailand. If you have a ticket out , you can extend and show them a New out ticket..

@Rud *********
Are you sure they won’t consider a 30 extension?
Rud **********
ExcitingCrocodile1218 Foreigners entering Thailand by any means under the Visa Exemption scheme are required at the port of entry to have proof of planned travel (confirmed air, train, bus, or boat tickets) to leave Thailand within 30 days of the arrival date. Otherwise, a visa must be obtained before entering Thailand. > Thai Embassy

Maybe ask them

Depends entirely on who checks you in and their level of training and mood at that moment in time.

Not only the mood but the company rules If a traveler is denied entry by immigration upon arrival, the airline is legally and financially responsible for flying them back to their origin point. That is why now most request an outbound or return ticket. Many countries fine airlines heavily if they bring in a passenger who lacks proper entry or exit documents and because your original time you can stay (without extension) do not match the returndate they play it safe and ask for an outbound ticket. If you can convince the carrier clerk or his chef that you are a regural tourist who will not fail immigration rules maybe you can check in. 1 class passengers mostly get more chance I would not risk it buy a refundable ticket or a cheap trow away outbound ticket if your plan to extent your visa/visa exempt.
