Will divorcing my Thai wife affect my Retirement visa status and 800,000 baht requirement?

I converted my Visa extension by Marriage to Retirement last month. At my next 90 day report I need to also show my funds have not dropped below 800,000 baht. Now, my wife is demanding a divorce. If I divorce before the 800,000 baht review will there be a problem?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user converted their Marriage visa extension to a Retirement visa and is concerned about the requirement to maintain a bank balance of at least 800,000 baht amidst impending divorce. Community responses clarify that the divorce will not impact the Retirement visa status since the extension is based on being over 50 and having the required funds, rather than marriage. Some users note that different immigration offices have varying requirements regarding bank balance verification.

True, but the 1st time you switch from a Marriage based extension to a Retirement based extension, at least in Jomtiem, you need to provide your marriage certificate and wife's house book. That is why inquired.

The ONLY office that I know of that requires you to show back up after 3 months and show you still have the 800K baht in the bank is the Jomtien Office in Chonburi.

BUT

Be that as it may, it doesn't matter what happens to the marriage, it won't affect your extension because you said you got your current extension based on being over 50 (retirement) by showing the 800K baht NOT based on marriage to a thai.

Yep........Jomtiem is where I go to for immigration. Thanks Todd....

all you do for that 800K baht review is, update your bank book, copy the page that shows the balance and go in to the immigratio office with the receipt telling you when to show up. They look at it and you're done.

In addition to updating the book do you also need a letter as well from the bank to certify the 800K?

@Jon *******
You don't need a new bank letter

Follow the directions on the paper
