Hello group,

LTR/WP Health Insurance Waiver Question: I have a lot more than $100k sitting uninvested in two brokerage accounts for more than 12 month, it fetches some interest income. Do you think BOI accept this to waive the mandatory health insurance ? I was not sure because money is at a stock brokerage firm but not used to purchase shares for more than 1 year.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original question concerns whether a balance of over $100k in brokerage accounts held for more than a year can be accepted by the BOI to waive mandatory health insurance for the Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa. Comments suggest that as long as the account shows a consistent balance of $100k, it should qualify as an investment for the waiver, and applying for the LTR after approval won't incur any loss.

The investment account ‘should’ work as long as it’s showing a $100k balance for a year

You only pay for a LTR after it is approved so go for it, you have nothing to lose
