I have Nord VPN on both my hotspot device & on my iPad. I have been watching Netfix with no problem for 3 weeks & now it is saying i can only watch temporarily until I go home & reconnect to my home internet. Is this right?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reports difficulties accessing Netflix while using Nord VPN, encountering a message stating that they can only watch temporarily before needing to reconnect to home internet. Community members suggest that this issue arises due to Netflix's detection of household IP addresses and potential password-sharing policies. Various solutions are discussed, including changing VPN server locations, subscribing to local versions of Netflix, or contacting Nord for assistance. There are also mentions of similar experiences with other streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, indicating a trend where VPN usage is increasingly detected and blocked by these platforms.

Come on
They = the corporate streaming providers are not stupid
??!! Do you really think they don’t know what you are trying to do!!
Get over it
Pay for the services IN the area you are in
Stop trying/expecting them to allow you to
Skirt their policies

I pay my Netflix in the Philippines in pesos, now when I'm temporarily in Sweden, I have to ask my partner there to give me a code every two weeks or so.

i just signed up for netflix in philppines they charge me in canadian dollars and its cheaper than america.. and it works in america as well and when in thailand it switches it to thailand subtitles :)

Happens to me and it usually means Nord connected to a closer server or I didn't wait for Nord to connect. I just disconnect and reconnect in the US. That said, Nord has great Chat assistance, I would try them before coming here.

What you need to do is change your VPN location log in everytime you log in. The streaming services recognise the IPs after a while so you need to refresh.

Netflix cost you 400 baht or so straight in Thailand can pay with your Thai phone bill

Take your Netflix off the VPN. The Netflix app has a setting that allows you to indicate you are traveling and you sorted. I never have a problem no matter what country I'm in it works and I share my password with kids in S.A
They recently changed my plan… lowered price and added ads. I could no longer watch abroad(Thailand) so turned on a VPN, but my girlfriend then could not add Thai subtitles. I had to upgrade my plan to the next one up, and then could watch Netflix again internationally and she got her Thai subtitles back.

I use Exoress VPN. I have the same problem but it usually doesn't happen for an hour or so. What I do is turn off Netflix and the VPN then turn everything back on and it's good for another hour or two.

Send a message to Nord and ask for advice

Why don’t you just subscribe to the Thai version of Netflix? It’s only about 300 baht/month.
it's English AND Thai content. . . I haven't missed anything in Thai Netflix . . . . plenty of English original movies. And if you hit up a French, Polish, Swedish or any other country action movie, you can set the language and subtitles to English
I hear people say that all the time, but I honestly have only found one, maybe two shows in 5 years here using the Thai netflix that wasn't available. And for those 1 or 2 shows I was able to get them when I turned on my VPN to be in the US.

You might try changing the server to another city.

most VPN providers use "server farms", and they will all be detected by Netflix or Amazon sooner or later, and get blocked.
been using nordvpn for Amazon for 5 years now and it has never picked up on it. Don't use it for Netflix since I have Thai account. Its cheaper than the US netflix and i haven't noticed any shows missing. Both work just fine in the US without a VPN for the 3 weeks a year I'm there.
I got the same problem with my Amazon Prime Video account. Amazon detects the VPN and has warned me to cancle my suscription if I keep watching from abroad. I have tested my Thai Netflix in Europe already, but only once and because I got wared, I stopped it. So now when back in Europe, I use my Amazon Prime, and when in Thailand for 6 months, I use our Thai Netflix membership

Yes, but this has nothing to do with using a VPN, rather with password sharing.
