Any ideas why they need the past 2 years of my taxes? Can I just submit the income tax paperwork related to my job?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user questions why they are required to submit two years of tax filings, particularly when their tax documents are lengthy and complex. Comments suggest that only a tax summary may be necessary, raising concerns about documentation volume requested by the consulate and the implications it may have on their application. Community members share various perspectives on the necessity and approach to submitting tax information, with some advising to provide minimal documentation and others emphasizing the consulate's authority to request additional information.

I’m in a similar situation. I’m submitting my 2024 tax documents to them, but my income for 2024 was very low. I hope this won’t negatively affect my application. What do you think?

PassionateSloth9752 my income from 3 years ago imho shouldn’t be a requirement for this visa per jow it’s described.
There are posts on here of people, breaking it into the content, creation, industry, barely meeting the mini bar.
So I don’t know what’s going on. I ended up submitting my W-2 tax forms related to my current job because I happen to have been working here for the past 3 years.

agree with you. From what I understand, this requirement is coming specifically from Ho Chi Minh City, and I’m already deep into the process, so I’m just trying to do everything I can to get the visa approved.
I’m only a bit concerned about my low income in 2024 — no one mentioned this as a requirement upfront, but I still feel slightly uncomfortable with the figures I’m submitting now. I’m debating whether to include an explanation letter or not.

Tax summary is all that's needed as far as the income tax filing.

The Thai consulate in HCMC that you applied DTV reserves the right to request further documentation LOL. So if you want your application to move forward you need to provide all the request docs or else they will not process and will eventually reject your application!!

Schedule D stock transactions in tax fillings ? You shouldn’t need to submit individual stock transactions.

Anonymous participant Sorry, I meant you should be able skip the forms eg 1099-B form since they are used to complete schedule D. I did that to the LA embassy without any issues.

Income tax paperwork related to your job would surely just be payslips? As your anonymous I've no idea where you are from but in the UK you get a tax summary page when you file a tax return, if you get similar try that
Anonymous participant you were looking for a way to avoid uploading hundreds of pages, I simply gave you a suggestion. If you have such a thing I'd suggest providing it and if they don't like it they'll come back to you. The alternative is to do as they ask.
If filing taxes in the US he can show the first two pages which will have a complete summary and signature. Just surprised as I know someone who just filed for a DTV in US and they asked for none of the payroll stubs or 6 months of income. That is common for embassies outside the US.
