Hi folks , I always flown to Thailand from Sydney visa exempt but as Iโll retire there this time I thought Iโd apply for 60 day tourist visa which can be extended a further 30 days in Thailand .So 90 days to revisit a few places and decide where is best for me .
My question is for Aussies who have applied for 60 day tourist visa in Australia.
How do I fill in arrival dates and departure dates on visa form if Iโm going to apply for retirement visa in Thailand ?
Do I book flight toThai land and buy a cheap ticket to Cambodia showing departure date 30 or 60 days after arrival to satisfy visa application?
Thanks for any suggestions

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an Australian planning to retire in Thailand, inquired about the appropriate way to fill out a visa application, particularly regarding arrival and departure dates, while considering applying for a retirement visa. Responses suggested applying for different visa options, including the 60-day tourist visa and the multi-entry tourist visa, which would provide extended stay opportunities and easier transition to a retirement visa. Key points included the importance of having a bank account and necessary documentation for a retirement visa and highlighted that booking a flexible flight could assist in fulfilling visa requirements.

I'm Australian, come in on the 90 day like you said you will do and just booked the cheapest flight out which at the time was to Singapore. Worked great. Before the 90 days was up, I opened a bank account, had a rental agreement residential certificate, and got the retirement visa. ๐
sorry, I applied in Australia for tourist 60 day and did 30 day extensions. ๐

Sounds like you don't have a Thai bank account yet which you will need to apply for a Non-O Visa in Thailand. Look into getting your Non-O before you travel to get 90 on arrival then get your bank account in time for your 12 month extension.

To give yourself more time, and to do more research on where you want to retire at in Thailand, get the multi-entry tourist visa, the METV, this can give you almost 9 months in Thailand, with just two exits and re-entering before the 6 months the METV is valid for, getting 60 days with each entry, and the 30 day extensions.

When you apply via Sydney online pre-approval write flights and dates to suit the 60 days or less. They do not ask for proof of the flights
