Why did my Non-O visa renewal face challenges with the officer regarding monthly transfers?

What’s with ‘some’ IO Officers.

Last year I applied for my Non-O ext myself, no agent. I sat with an old’ish officer and she pulled up one page that had part of the photo copy slightly blurred but very easily readable. She said it wasn’t up to standard but she could fast-track my application if I paid 16K baht. I mentioned politely, I’d prefer to do it myself and would get another copy. She obviously realised I wasn’t prepared to pay for the ‘extra service’ so she processed my application as it was. 🤦‍♂️

I returned today for my renewal and I got the same officer. In addition to keeping the 800K in my account, I have also been transferring 65K each month. So this time I asked for the new application to be based on the monthly transfer method. She said “No 800K better” I asked why I couldn’t do it and her answer was because it’s easier for her to check. 🤦‍♂️. So yet again, I politely asked to use the monthly transfer. Begrudgingly she said OK, but I had to have the transfer land in my bank on the same day each month. When I said some days fall on a weekend and so it’s impossible to do it on exactly the same date, she just didn’t answer.

The joys of living in Thailand.
Answer summary
The user shares their experience with an immigration officer during the renewal of their Non-O visa. Initially, they encountered difficulties when the officer insisted on having a certain requirement met for their documents. Despite having a substantial sum in their account and making monthly transfers, the officer preferred the simpler method of having the full 800K baht in the account, citing ease of verification. The user expressed frustration with the officer's rigid procedures and their lack of understanding regarding the specifics of the monthly transfer requirement.

if this is your first time extension then yes it's another 30 days, if it's the 2nd time it's only 7 days.

Your statement is a bit confusing, you say you entered on 60 day free tourist. So did you enter on a 60 day tourist visa or did you enter without a visa via 60 day exemption? Either way currently nothing has changed and an announcement was made anyone already here will not be affected by the upcoming changes. So you should be fine to stay 60 days and get a 30 day extension. But this is Thailand and everything is subject to change at any time.

There will be an announcement in the royal Gazette in 15 days, and that's the date it starts. Before that no changes apply to entries before that date.

PeacefulWolf9672 wrong, no one is sure when it will be Gazetted but once it is, it will then come not effect 15 days after it is gazetted
