TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the possibility of opening a bank account in Phuket with a DTV (Digital Tourist Visa). Users mention that Bangkok Bank allows account openings even with a tourist visa, although there is uncertainty about other banks accommodating this. The need for a bank account is linked to using the PromptPay system for paying utility bills.

get a TrueMoney account. Can top-up 3k baht per transaction. Or probably more at a TRUE shop/terminal…

for large sums you could just use Wise. put money into your wise account and then transfer it to your landlord for example

I have dtv visa, and true money asks a paper visa snapshot from your passport to unlock the transfer feature. I was like all dtv visa since 2025 are e-visa now, where do I get a paper version on the passport

they have just released this app. I think you can go get it at Kasikorn Bank (the green one). You can use this app and pay by scanning QR code directly from the app like thai people do.

no as this app doesn’t allow personal qr transfers. You need a bank account for that.
