TLDR : Answer Summary
You should fill out the Digital Incoming Online Form within 3 days of your arrival in Thailand. The form can be completed from 3 days before travel up to the day of your arrival. It's important to note that you can only select your arrival date for today, tomorrow, or the next three days in the form, and if you haven't completed it beforehand, you may do so from a smartphone at the airport.
‘Within’ 3 days of arrival so 72 hours before you arrive up to and including at Arrival counter in Thailand

You can donut from 3 days before travel until day of travel. If you haven’t done it before travel it can be done from a smartphone in the airport. You receive immediate confirmation
QLD , they asked to see my DTAC , I'm not sure what would have happened if I didn't have it , I know you can fill it out at airport in Bangkok so that's no a problem or even do it on your phone on the way to immigration if you have internet so not sure if they would stop you leaving Australia without it , dont think they can
You cannot do it more than 3 days before arrival. When you go into the form and try to select arrival date, the only options available to you will be today, tomorrow, 2 days away and 3 days away.
