Hello, I’m 58 and have $200,00 usd in bank. And will be working remotely part time until I retire at 62. Want to go for 1 month first while I decide where I want to live. Or get a 60 day visa. Not sure which Visa I should get. And are we allow travel with a small dog?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering moving to Thailand for one month to explore living options while working remotely part-time. They are uncertain whether to apply for a standard 60-day tourist visa or a multi-entry tourist visa to facilitate travel. The conversation reveals concerns about traveling with a small dog, the challenges of bringing pets, and the importance of not engaging in remote work on a tourist visa. Various comments suggest weighing the decision to bring the dog until after establishing residency in Thailand.
Do not broadcast that you are working remotely on a tourist visa, it is totally prohibited. It may not happen but someone may just report you, so take care who you tell.
While I understand the dog question, I would forget about it until you have settled here.
You can enter for 60 days on a tourist exempt visa stamped in your passport on entry.
Concerning remote work, it is not permitted. Of course they turn a blind on short stays, but if you settle, there are a few (5 or 6) where people have been sent home for doing so.
Thai immigration are no different that Western immigration and starting to be far more strict because of abuse, mainly by the Russians, Israelis and Indians.
I’d be inclined to get the multi entry tourist visa. It will give you six months of coming and going to figure out what you want to do, apply for visas in country where available (not an option for every visa though), move belongings back and forth etc. It’s great flexibility for not much more work. If you bring your dog you should probably treat that as a one time thing, ie you bring the dog at the end once you have your long term visa and a place to bring him. I wouldn’t bring him back and forth while you’re working it all out.
Deslea Selmes Animals and people are on a completely different level so that is not the same at all. But to your point getting a Thai girlfriend versus a Western wife would be a 1000x better.
Thai girlfriend will drain you if you stay in Thailand, I brought my Thai girlfriend ( now wife) to the U.S.A. to experience that dollars are not growing on trees here and behind every dollar is a hard work !!
Petr S. Van Valkenburg True, she sure can! But that's where discipline comes into play. Don't let her get out of control. Just remember she's not the only one out there. Move on when necessary. Never ever consider marriage!
