My wife and I are going to Thailand for three weeks in November. This will be our first trip back in three years.
I’ve heard so much talk about visa issues. What will I need to do to avoid problems, we are coming from USA.
Thank you,
Answer summary
U.S. citizens traveling to Thailand for 30 days or less do not need a visa due to visa exemption on arrival. Key requirements include obtaining an onward ticket, having at least 20,000 baht in cash, ensuring your passport has a minimum of 6 months validity, and completing the Thai Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours prior to arrival. Travelers are also advised to use reliable apps for submission and to embrace Thai culture respectfully.

Thank you your information but I still don't understand the TDAC yes I have passport USA so have 30days free in Thailan that's mean I DON'T NEED take visa and I just drop in Thai Lan then they stamp on my passport thanh you
30 days visa exempt on arrival: onward ticket within that 30 days, proof of funds of 20,000 baht each (about 600 cash, they rarely ask but they can) TDAC 72 hours prior to arrival, Passport with a minimum of 6 months validity remaining, a smile and hello in Thai (saw wat dee) also helps but not required ;).
Of course this assumes you don’t have any warrants, black lists.
The visa issues are for people trying to live in Thailand using tourist visas bouncing in and out of the country doing border runs. Or undesirables that have or may cause problems in the Kingdom of Thailand. They have approved and implementing fast track deportation for those that cause issues like crimes or public decency.
In short they are trying to keep out and kick out the trouble makers and scammers that bother or exploit the Thai citizens or foreign tourists.
You can use the TDAC website or the new THIM app. Both are FREE. You can start putting information in the THIM early and submit with 72 hours before your arrival. TDAC is only within 72 hours.
With a US passport you don't need to do anything for a 3 week stay other than file a TDAC within the 72 hour window prior to arrival. Just show up and get stamped in for 30 days
You won't have any problems. Just fly in, make sure you complete the TDAC entry card on line no more than 3 days before arrival (it's free on the government Immigration website) you will be stamped Visa exempt and receive 30 days. That's it, easy.
