Hello everyone,

I’m going through a marital dispute, and my son’s visa and mine have been sponsored by my (ex) husband’s company. They have informed us that they will not renew our visas.

Does anyone know of any visa options, other than a Non-B visa with a work permit, that would allow us to stay in Thailand for 1–2 years at a reasonable cost? Ideally, my son could also be included as my dependent.

Unfortunately, my son cannot enroll in school at the moment, so a student visa and guardian visa are not an option.

I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you!
Summary so far
An expat, currently facing a marital dispute, seeks visa options for themselves and their son following the non-renewal of their visas sponsored by their (ex) husband's company. They are looking for alternatives to the Non-B visa that would allow them to stay in Thailand for 1–2 years at a reasonable cost while including their son as a dependent. Comments from the community discuss various visa types, the implications of different visa statuses after divorce, and the possibility of pursuing an educational visa despite current challenges.

Facebook doesn’t help in legal matters. People can only share their experiences. Hire an immigration lawyer, they handles such cases everyday and can give right answers straightaway

You can apply for an ED visa

After a divorce, you have 7 days to leave the country. You can come back on a tourist visa for 60 days. Do not overstay, since you can be banned from entry.

there is no 7 days. The extension is invalid as of the moment the reason for that extension ends.

possible to get the seven days extension. However, when your marriage visa ends, you have to leave the country, or buy the seven days att immigration.

Correct. It's something you have to apply for, you do not "have 7 days to leave." And immigration also does not have to accept your application since they know you do not qualify for the extension, as the 7 days is as an "extension denied" stamp.

Dennis Hultman not everybody can enter visa free, it's citizenship dependant.

and you? If you're under 50 your options are limited, maybe a Thai Privilege visa but it's relatively expensive, your son could just overstay until he's 15 without any consequences other than an overstay stamp in his passport when he leaves

yes really. But be careful with the ED visa, they come under a lot of scrutiny. You need to attend school, they check your attendance for each 90 day extension and if you leave Thailand when you are meant to be studying you risk not getting back in

really? If he gets an overstay stamp, it's not gonna effect his future visa application? Im thinking to get myself an ED visa, but for that he can not get non-O under my ED visa. Im appreciated your advice 🙏
