Had anyone retired to Thailand with an adult son with disability who they care for and support? If so can you please share your process by DM. Thanks in advance.
Answer summary
This discussion focuses on the challenges and solutions for retirees in Thailand who care for an adult son with disabilities. Participants suggest options like the Disabled Thai Visa (DTV), which allows long-term residency with the need for annual exits, and education visas for courses suitable for the son. They emphasize the necessity of obtaining an independent visa for the son, as he cannot be included under the parents' retirement visa.

I have a DTV for long term physical therapy. Keep in mind, he will have to exit Thailand 1-2 times every year with if he has a DTV. I had help from an agency called Settle In Abroad.

Depending on his disabilities he can get an education visa. Courses like cooking or spoken thai that you can do together. He will get 1 year for this. Alternatively he could apply for dtv, which is 5 years. For this he would need to prove lump sum initially, and monthly income. We managed to do this for our son by diverting some of our money through accounts in his name.

thanks so much the second option is what we would probably do. Did you use a visa concomitant or do it yourself?

BronzeTurtle8937 we did it ourselves, but you have to do it from your own country. I've seen agent here advertising by just going to vietnam but I don't now how legal this is. The

0 baht only needs to be in the account for the first entry to Thailand. You can then take it out.

There are various visa agent ready to take your money to guarantee getting it in Vietnam still, but we thought better of it. It worked out cheaper for us to fly to UK than pay the agents fees. Can't say if it works or not....sorry!

going to Vietnam isn't possible anymore. You can now only apply for a DTV in your home country or other country you have a permanent right to reside

The problem will be getting an appropriate visa for your son. As an adult he will require his own visa independent of yours
