Hey everyone :)

I'm looking for some advice about how to proceed with getting a tax number. My partner and I are on Muay Thai soft power DTV. We do not have an income and survive on savings. After 180 days, we become tax residents. Could someone advise how we should proceed with this? Thank you any help is appreciated🙏

You have to leave before 180 days

and can re-enter the following day - and thus become tax resident.

where do you get this data from? Please check the Thai revenue code administered by the Thai revenue department.

that is the rule. Maybe you are reading a different rule book. Stop arguing and go read the code thoroughly.

so you think you can leave at 179 days - spend a day or two some where - re enter - spend another 179 days here and not be tax resident at 358 days in the country. Lol.

Becoming a tax resident does not mean you have a tax liability. Most people do nothing unless they are bringing untaxed money onshore to Thailand. I don't expect the tax office to issue a TIN, as it sounds like there is no liability.

Go to the revenue office to explain. If you have a Thai person you can call from there just in case it's better. That's what I did and I have my TIN

You rely on savings and have no income!.

What tax do you want to pay?

for the money brought to thailand, as the law says

but I would assume any tax due would have already been paid on that if required.

As such its not an income for tax purposes.

You become a Thai tax resident for any year if you spend 180 days or more in that calendar year, but that doesn't mean you will get a TIN on request. Normally you would get one when you are about to file a tax return which you would do in the 1st 3 months of the following year
