Good morning, so in 2 months and 3 weeks I am going to apply for the retirement visa non-o in Jomtien as I will reach 50 yo.
I have the 800k sent by international transfer that have been sitting for years in my Bangkok bank account.
My first question is what needs to be done with the bank in advance. I am going to update the bankbook at the machine every months from now.
Do I have to get a letter certifying the funds have been there for a while with the bank as well ? Should I wait the day after I am 50 yo to ask for this letter?
Any other administrative stuff that need to be done long before applying for the visa. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing to apply for a Non-O retirement visa in Jomtien upon turning 50 and has queries regarding the required banking procedures. Key points include the need for a bank letter confirming the 800k THB transfer, possibly drafted the day of the application, and maintaining updated bank records to reflect the funds. The user is advised to check the specific requirements at the Jomtien immigration office as they can vary, and to ensure they have sufficient days left on their current visa.

Immigration will want to see the 800k transfer listed in your bank book as an international transfer. You mentioned the funds have been there for years. Do you still have the bank book showing that 800k transfer? If not, you might want to stop into Jomtien IO and ask the man that works the Retirement desk what he would want to see from you, or what you should ask the bank for to confirm the 800k was an international transfer. The man that works the retirement desk has always been professional, polite, and helpful.
yes it is still the original bankbook, will go jomtien this week

I don't know about Jomtien. In Sakon Nakhon they require the bank letter must be drafted the day of application.

You need to slog on over to the Jomtien immigration office and get the sheet they have as a hand out listing the requirements you need to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50 (retirement)
You need a minimum of 15 days left on your current stamp (because the application goes under review for 2 weeks before you return to get the Non-O visa and new 90 day stamp inked in)
As a rule you need the 'standard' bank letter (just a 4 or 5 line letter stating your name, passport number, account number and the balance the day they wrote the letter) you also need to get a 3 month detail transaction report (you only have to show the funds are in the account for 2 months but I think they print those reports in 3 month increments) and you need to update your bank book on the date you apply so it shows the balance that day.
Definitely go and get the hand out listing the requirements well before you're going to attempt to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa as that will make getting the documents you need together easier for you, OR post on a Jomtien/Pattaya f/b page and ask
Jomtien is one of those quirky (to put it politely) immigration offices that require you to bank the 800K in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before the initial 90 day Non-O application ๐
