Hi!

Hoping to get clarity and some help from all.

Just got my final approval document for thr LTR Wealthy Pensioner. Yay!

It was my understanding that I would next have to get a stamp issued in my passport. I live in

NYC.

Called NYC embassy twice-of course 2 different answers. They are now telling me i need to apply for the e-visa. Once that’s done i will get another document that i am supposed to take with me upon my next arrival in Thailand to get the stamp in my passport.

I litetally just got back and plan on moving permanently Oct 1. The issuance is valid for 60 days so does that mean i have to fly to Thailand to get the stamp, come back, them move on Oct 1?? Ugh. Or would the e-visa document give me a new timeline?

Any info greatly appreciated

Thx all.

Myself and my wife recently used our BOI LTR-Visa (WP) endorsement letters to apply for an E-visa through the Thai-Embassy (consulate services) in KL-Malaysia. This was done online and we obtained our E-visa's within 3 working days. We then took separate trips into Thailand to activate the visa's showing our E-visa's (Certificates) in our smart phones.

You don't need to enter Thailand to activate your LTR, it is already active from the date of issue if obtained as an eVisa.

yes I know. We had reason to enter the Country ahead of our relocation, and the activation helped with border crossings later between Malaysia and Thailand. Border immigration officers are not too familiar with the LTR-visa.

There is no stamp from an embassy in the world anymore.

You have 2 options. Apply for evisa online from your Thai embassy and get a pdf document that you print and keep with you for 10 years.

Or you go to Bangkok within about 50 days, make an appointment with the BOI, and get the LTR stamped into your passport.

Brandon, thx for your quick reply. Ok so evisa issued as a pdf document, and I don’t need to get a stamp in my passport. So the pdf i can just carry around for 10 yrs? Am i understanding your comment correctly? Thx😊

Yes, exactly. They will put an entry stamp in your passport each time you enter Thailand, but the visa itself will be the PDF document. If you get it in Bangkok, then the visa itself will be in your passport, and you'll also still get an entry stamp each time.

Honestly the biggest difference between the two is that you are going to pay more money for the visa from the embassy. In Thailand it's exactly 50,000 baht that you pay directly to the immigration office. If you get it from the embassy, they charge a few hundred dollars more.
