How would you go about it to maximise your chances to get a DTV visa (workcation/digital nomad) approved in the following scenario:

1. You had already a 1 year ED visa previously, since then living in Thailand on a tourist visa for 3 months (2months+extension) [case 1] or 5 months (3+2 months) with a short border run in between [case 2]

2. Business will be teaching languages on apps like Preply and italki (not teaching Thai people). No other income.

3. >500.000THB in a bank account not an issue.

4. Retirement visa or Elite Visa aren't an option

From which country/city would you apply?

For how long would you AT LEAST leave Thailand before applying for the visa (to show income, screenshots of teaching classes, etc.) ?

What are the red flags/things to avoid in order to have a stronger application?

I am thankful for any constructive feedback. :-)

TLDR : Answer Summary
To maximize your chances of getting a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) in Thailand considering your prior visa history and intended work as an online language tutor, it's beneficial to take the following steps: 1. **Choose the Right Location**: Applying from countries like Laos might improve your chances as some users report success from there. 2. **Duration Out of Thailand**: Leaving Thailand for at least a month could help in demonstrating your income and teaching experience through documentation. 3. **Documentation**: Ensure you have clear proof of your online teaching engagements with platforms like Preply or italki, including contracts and earnings records. 4. **Avoid Red Flags**: Be cautious about your previous visa status, ensuring there's a clear and valid explanation. Also, be aware that working with Thai clients might raise concerns. 5. **Consider Using an Agent**: Some users recommend employing an immigration agent for guidance, as they can help in preparing your application and achieving a higher success rate, although it's crucial to choose reputable agents.

How long have you been teaching online?

I normally wouldn't recommend an agent, but your situation is kind of tenuous with the previous visa, extensions, and what you are trying to submit as your line of work (online language tutor).

I am surprised that more people don’t use agents. For about 5K baht, they took in all the paperwork, coached me through a couple of challenges, checked and edited my documentation. Once complete, the submitted to Embassy for me, updates me along the way, and best of all, guaranteed results. Had my visa within 3 weeks stress free.

To, peace of mind and low stress was important, and the fact that they have a 99% success rate made it a no brainer.

Online language teacher has no real barrier to having Thai clients. The person reviewing may not like that.

Pay an agent that has a money back guarantee if it doesn't work out.. I haven't heard anyone having problems applying from Laos. I sure didn't.

download the Loco app and make an account before you go...also try to has $40 USD to give to immigration in Laos or you will get screwed over trying to pay in Thai baht

well you need to have 10,000 baht in cash to give to he embassy. The 40 USD is to pay immigration at the airport to get a visa on arrival. And you'll need spending money for however long you plan on staying...also I recommend staying at an Airbnb vs a hotel.

It’s the million dollar question - I do feel like it’s a bit of a mystery sometimes, like a black box and even if all in order you can still be rejected.

no that is not the guaranteed way of increasing approval as growing recent rejected agent applications have proven. The majority of approvals are given to applicants who apply themselves.
