Good morning! My British son used up his 1 month visa exempt and 1 month extension that expires tomorrow (15 Aug). He was due to fly to Bali this morning but the Thai Airways stopped him as his pp expires on 7 Feb 24, which we overlooked. What can he do now? Please help! πŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user's son has used his 1 month visa exempt and 1 month extension but cannot fly due to his passport expiring in less than 6 months. Commenters suggest going to the immigration office to obtain a 7-day extension to avoid overstaying and offer potential alternative travel destinations.

once he let that passport go below 6 months validity he sure limited the countries he can go to. πŸ˜•

Lloyd and Wannikea both gave you valid options to look at..

While you're looking at a place to send him he can go to the immigration office tomorrow and get a 7 day 'application for extension not approved' stamp that gives him a week to get out of thailand

Otherwise he runs on overstay if he can't fly out tomorrow

could he just overstay a month and pay the fine?

now you're just grasping at straws πŸ™

That would NOT be a choice I would consider πŸ˜•

Rather than consider breaking the rules how about he just follows them?

I'd say your choices are;

Fly him out by tomorrow

Get him the 7 day extension denied stamp that gives him week to get out of the country,

OR

ship him back to where he comes from and let him deal with getting a new passport.

I agree, just that he's upset about having to cut short his summer break
Wannikea *********
Looking at that list Hong Kong seems like the likely choice in the region.
Lloyd ********
The site below lists countries that do not require 6 months validity.
