Hi everyone. Would appreciate some advice... I have only 1 free page left in my passport 😞 and my original plan was to travel around Asia for a year... It takes 3 months on average to make a new passport in Ukrainian consulate abroad...My problem is that my 2 months visa with 30 days extension is going to end in a few weeks. Is there any way I could get additional 3 months THAI visa to be able to stay legally in the country while I am waiting for a new passport?

Thank you 🙏

If you have one totally free page you should be able to get another Thai visa on that presuming you make sure to squeeze any stamps in on existing pages, (in my experience immigration will be helpful with this, if you just ask) and go to a country that doesn't itself require a full page visa to be affixed. I'd make sure you go to a country you could get a new passport, and that you'd be happy to stay if you have to, but no harm in trying for another once you are there. This depends on the consulate as to whether they'll do it but I believe some will as long as there is one totally blank page (and it's a visa page).

My wife had a similar problem with not enough pages in her Ukrainian passport. She had to fly to Kiev and made a new passport in 5 days, quick service through an agent. Lyudmyla why do you have to travel so long in Ukraine; can’t you use the authority in Kiev?

thanks a lot for sharing! the thing is that I am not from Kiev, It takes me additional 12 hours by train to get from Kiev to my home town. All the flight connects, ferry/bus/train rides, etc make the trip quite long and exhausting... plus it's quite expensive...

Another problem is that according to the Ukrainian law, I can get a passport only in the region where I am registered. Due to the fact that Ukraine has recently got a visa free zone with Schengen countries and my region is very close to the border with Poland, quite a lot of people in my region are getting new bio passports. The lines for getting a passport are simply huge, some people wait up to 6 months for new bio passport...

It just doesn't make sense for me to go to Ukraine and then come back to Asia.

I guess I'll try my luck with getting new passport in Vietnam

If you're intending touring Asia for a yr surely the first thing you do is check your passport

You said you had a ten year USA visa... any other long term visas you can travel to while you wait?

@Lyudmyla *******
you can fly to Guam if they have a Ukraine consulate there

Unfortunately, not... it’s quite expensive to travel to USA and to stay there. So, not considering that option for the moment

Well even u say u lost it , u still have the visa ! And if u lost yours u will get a temporary passport and can ask for a new one like I did it , from your ambassador .... then u have time to get enough visa ...
Reiner *********
NO.....its First Not to lose your US Visa, Second to get a temporary one to get a New 90 stamp And third After a while a new passport....think more or leave back home

If I loose passport, don’t they disqualify it all together with all the visas in it? Then even if I find it, it’s not going to be valid as it’s marked as lost already?

Can't you say you have lost your passport and get a new one from your embassy

I’ve got a 10 year USA visa in my current passport which I would like to keep. That’s the only reason why I cannot say I lost my passport. Thought about it... thank you!

It takes about 3 months to get the passport and she has a few weeks left on her Visa. Not a bright idea to loose your passport now.
Nicholas *******
Vietnam is a great place. I take it you are off to their embassy first. Just to make sure you do not need additional pages?

Thanks everyone for your comments. I found out that Vietnam gives 3 months visa and also does loose leaf visa... so far it’s the only option besides going back to my home country... not that excited about 3 months in Vietnam though, would rather stay in Thailand if there was an option...

@Jatin ******
thank you 🙏 that’s my plan!

That's great and please try to talk to your embassy there also
Nicholas *******
You cannot enter the country with less than 2 pages.

Yes, it definitely seems that your only way out of this is to get a new passport in your home country. Even if you left Thailand and went to another surrounding country, as with your plan to travel around Asia, you would still only be getting 30 day exempts.

To get another visa means leaving the country, get the visa and come back, which already requires more than one page.

Talk to your embassy in thailand

Try to request them

Nice to find out a few weeks before you visa ends and only one page left in the passport. Looks like a short trip back to Ukraine to apply for new passport.

thank you! I think I’ll go to Vietnam... they provide 3 months visa and dont care about the number of pages in the passport as they provide loose leaf visa if there are no pages

@Lyudmyla *******
better then .... u have NO Time to wait with one page u even can only go out once. And stamp on it Then u will not can come back ....

So buy a ticket home is the best an quickest way !

Try and get yourself a shorter layover. I fly home to Ireland once a year and even with 2 hour layover in the middle, it takes roughly 16 hours give or take.
Robert *******
Flights take 16 hours with one stop, think public transport in Ukraine is slow.
Richard *********
What airline is that?
