90 day residency check

I had my first 90 day visit in Jomtien today. I went through the Embassy website to see what I needed.

Passport

Copy of Passport

Copy of Stamps page

Copy of Visa

T47 - I downloaded it and filled it out

Receipt from landlord when they filed the TM30

I had read that Tues - Thursday are the best days. Go early. I got there at 8:15 (they open at 8:30).

Go to offices on right side that say 90 Day Residency. Dont go to the left side which is for other business with Immigration

I was about 10th in line. They take and check that your paperwork is complete and give you a number to wait to be called.

There were only 2 guys in front of me for the T47 line. The other 7 were there for something else. After 10 minutes they called my number. Gave me back my passport and a receipt that I had filed. I was done. I was so surprised that I asked her twice if I was finished. The Immigration officer pointed towards the door and said "Finished".

That was it. 10 minutes.

I was apprehensive because this was my first time. Easy as cake.

Hope this helps someone who has never done it before.

My friend uses a Thai contact who looks after the condo when away via wise and they pay bills. If you're not in the country, could you do that?

You can use Lazada wallet or Moreta to pay

I hope you didn’t put too much money in your account. I have only 30 bath in mine when not in Thailand, wise works with most bills and transfers. If Bangkok bank decides to freeze when I’m not in Thailand it’s not the end of the world (30 bath) just annoying.

Patrik Roslund it will be closed down as you not have the minimum amount (2000) in your account even you have all visas of the world

Get someone to pay for it and you use other ways to remit the money if all else fails.

I afraid you have to go to the bank branch in person To reopen your bank account. But they will ask for your visa status. Without a long stay visa it will be hard. To close the bank account it has to be unfrozen first from the bank.

For payments for your bills, try line. If your bills come per email or sms some have a QR code on it, but I’m not sure if you can pay with your credit card.

They just started a visa for property owners. Check it out. In Bangkok bank, I took the Condo registration papers and they released the acc. It might change from bank to bank and even between different branches.

Close it and use revolut or similar. You can withdraw any local currency all around the world if you need cash. Why do you need to have a Thai bank account?

Frej Edström you only can close your bank account if you go therein person and the bank have to reopen the account first. As long the account is frozen you can’t do anything.

Ron Georgi According to bangkok bank official notice, foreigners who are not in Thailand and have frozen account, they must be in person in the bank to unfreeze the accounts within one month. if not, the bank will close the accounts and later when they come to Thailand, they can take the balance from the bank, but the process should be very complicated and headache.( my guess)

Ron Georgi of course you have to go there and of course you can close the account and move the money.

Talk to Kasikorn Bank, more easy, BB is hopeless in this matter, and they make their own rule regarding this.

I'm in the same boat, catch 22. Need a visa to get a bank account and an account to get a visa.. I applied for DTV, and non O (retirement) all rejected with no reason given. You can go to the bank and get money back. Eventually. Good luck

Knut Aaslestad Apply for non o when your in your own country before travel you use your own bank account. Arrive in Thailand on the non o 90 day visa and open thai account is the best way. DTV is a tourist visa hence hard to open thai account

Knut Aaslestad use an agent, they will help you get a bank account

Steven Bilson duh.... Tried several agents regarding visa

Steven Bilson Agent can still help to open a thai bank account, but they can not do anything if the bank freezes or closes the account. So I do not recommend agent for opening a thai bank account. Frozen account is a big problem.

Steven Bilson not if you are under 50 years old and only unless you buy their "full package" ( Non-O, bank account and 12-months extension), for prices up from 60,000 Baht

You Literally can't do anything with the bank account until you go to the opening branch in person. Make sure you have everything you need or just close it. I closed mine and went to Krungsuri. My sister's and her husband had their frozen for the 2nd time dating they want more info. They have it am the first time, so now they want a urine or blood sample? They are currently in the USA and can't do anything until they return. So unless you need the 1 international bank, F that bank. I have had no issues with Krungsiri and they are nice, but I don't have online banking and I don't know if it's available? But I live here full time. However, there are many good banks.
