What should I know about applying for Thai visas from London during the holiday season?

A busy few days for questions with the recent changes to the DTV process!

I'd like to add one or two into the mix if I may. Hopefully they'll be useful for a few people thinking of applying:

I am in London (and am British) for approximately four weeks over the Christmas period. I'm a little worried that time is a bit short for applying for 2 x visas for my wife and I.

1) I know that technically you need to be in the country to apply, but is there actually any part of the process where this is checked, if the application is online? I'd ideally like to start it a couple of weeks earlier to provide a bit more breathing room.

2) Having to move the date of our applications forward because of the recent news means we will only have the required funds in our accounts for three months rather than six. I'm aware that this seems to differ from embassy to embassy – has anyone got any info re: London in terms of whether three months is sufficient?

3) Finally, it would great if anybody has some information on applying from London more broadly – typical timescales, specific documents, evidence they tend to ask for etc.

The London embassy has one of the shortest periods of bank acceptance, so you should be fine there.  Interestingly regards to applying early, traditionally, they have been very strict on showing flights in and out of country (not alll cases though)

And usually make you sign an affidavit.  Approvals in London are all over the place, some get approved in a few days and others take weeks.  Remember, your wife can’t apply until you get your DTV first, if she is applying as a dependent and now they require background checks (not sure the process in UK for that).  December is usually considered high season for visa applications and for staff to be on leave (plus embassy closed for holidays), which can slow things down. My recent application in London took 2 days 🤷‍♂️

So 4 weeks should be more than enough. And you only need the 500k for 10 days but they want to see 3 months of bank statements.

Im not sure how this added issue of the police clearance works but I suspect you can do that from outside the uk
