Hi everyone, my flight by qatar at march 29 th is cancelled. my stamp in the passport valid until march 29th. I bought a new ticket with thai air on april 10th. I have been in immigration today to get extension for 30 days, ich got infiormation that iat my case i do’t need to do 30 days extra visa. female officer has announced that when i leave the country on april 10 i have to show immigration proof of my flight cancellation qatar was sending to me and i don't have to pay a fine for overstay. has anyone heard of such rules in this emergency situation? is that correct?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reported a flight cancellation by Qatar Airways and sought clarity on whether showing proof of that cancellation would exempt them from overstaying fines when leaving Thailand. They were informed by immigration that they would need to show their flight cancellation proof upon departure but would not incur fines for overstaying. Comments reflected a consensus on the correctness of this information, advising the user to keep all documentation related to the canceled flight and new ticket handy, which supports current immigration leniency regarding overstays due to disruptions from canceled flights.

Yes it's correct because you have been stuck here. As long as you can show proof of the details of the original flight and the cancellations.

My friends flight was cancelled and she got 7 days extention for 1900 baht. The new flight out she finally could book was after that. So one more time to the immigration in town and they told her exactly the same as they told you. At the airport the lady immigration officer asked her why she didnt take the first flight and my friend shouted very loudly " because there is a war". 😆 she passed without problems.

The information from the officer is correct as long you have proof of the cancelled ticket after 28 February.

Yes correct, with a proof of flight cancelation. I was 3 days overstay, the check in counters checked with the immigration officer and it was fine, no sanction.

Yes, Ive read that too. Just keep proof of flight cancellation on you while you are here, in case you get in a random police check.

I left to Singapore to prevent an overstay after 90 days in Thailand with a flight cancelled by Qatar. I explained to immigration on my return and told them I wanted to stay only until I could re book with them. They gave me an additional 60 days and were very helpful

Apply for and get the extension before your current entry expires and there is no overstay.🤔

If possible, requesting a 'Letter of Confirmation' from your embassy or asking the Immigration officer for a short-term stay extension (such as 7 days or as necessary) would be safer than heading to the airport with an expired stamp and no updated authorization."

"Keep all evidence: If you decide to follow the officer's advice, you must print out the flight cancellation email from Qatar Airways and your new flight ticket, and keep them with you at all times.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you!

Depends which embassy as the European embassy’s don’t supply a letter.

As long you have proof of cancelled ticket after 28 February you will not be fined.

Gerar Teuben I göt refund. Qatar airways sent mail : refund or change ticket, I choosed refund and I bought other company ticket. And I will have 28 days overstay. Do you think they will let me pay or not? ( Qatar ticket 6march, and they sent email 3 March, they didn't said your flight cancelled, they only offer : if ur ticket 28feb-6march you can refund or change ticket date, and I choosed refund) thanks

As long you have the cancellation email with all the data from Qatar Airlines you should be fine and pay nothing.

I did exactly the same as you. Was given 2 day overstay fine then 30 day extension visa. I suspect it's down to immigration officers discretion 🤷‍♀️

The hardship isn't leaving Thailand, its coming back. You don't want to be put on the "blacklist." Be sure your passport or file is notated somehow.
