What should I do if Nonthaburi Immigration requires a letter from the US embassy for a visa extension, but the embassy no longer issues such letters?

The US embassy said it no longer issues letters. Nonthaburi Immigration requires it, though. Otherwise (they told me this morning), they will only issue me a 7-day extension and must leave the country (originally, I came in Dec. 8, โ€˜21 on TR visa 60 days and was granted a 30- day extension in Feb.. and, one needs at least 15 days in which to change visa status, such as to Non-O retirement. FYI

@Karyn *******
it's well worth making an appointment online for Chaeng Watthana if you plan to go off the back of a TM30 submitted in Bangkok.

Book a hotel for a day in Bangkok and go to muangthong thani

IF you indeed entered the country on a 60 day tourist visa that you bought from a thai consulate BEFORE you came here you do NOT go to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Instead go to the main Immigration office at the government complex Building B on Chaengwattana Road and you want Counter J

@William *****
this is the most easiest way. Get tm30 from hotel. That is all

Sounds like Nonthaburi is basically telling you to "prove" you can't return home, or to leave Thailand.

The US embassy hasn't issued covid extension request letters for a LONG LONG TIME.

I think you're gonna NOT be able to get the covid extension from that office and may have to come to Bangkok, check into a hotel (so that they file a TM30 on you) then go to Chaengwattana to apply for the 60 day covid extension.

Doesn't help you much now, but you should have went to the Nonthaburi office WAY before you burned all the time down on your 60 day tourist visa & 30 day extension to suss out the time you needed left on your stamp to apply for an in country Non-O visa there ๐Ÿ™

I mean face it, if Nonthaburi says they won't issue you a covid extension without the letter, you aren't gonna get one there (as there is no US letter ๐Ÿ™ ).
