I tell this story to share and help

others who might find themselves in a similar situation.

A few weeks ago I broke two bones in my left foot and was in a bit of pain.

I lost track of my 90 day report and finally today I reported but a couple of weeks late.

I was told of my lateness and I needed to pay 2000 baht, as fine.

I showed my hospital boot, my next hospital appointment and my foot X-ray.

They immediately said all was ok. Even went out and copied my hospital paperwork themselves.

I went there knowing I had to explain my lateness and that I had to take proof.

They were lovely, helpful and caring.

I got wished a speedy recovery.

Khon Kaen Immigration in their new office.

👍😁

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author shares a positive experience with Khon Kaen Immigration after being late for their 90-day report due to a foot injury. Despite being late and owing a fine, the staff were compassionate and waived the penalty upon seeing medical documentation. This story highlights the humane approach of some immigration offices in Thailand, contrasting with accounts of stricter enforcement in larger cities like Bangkok.

the penalty is discretionary it’s not system driven (as is the case of overstay) I had a similar issue during Covid, was two weeks late and I apologized and explained to the IO he was understanding and waived any penalty….

Try to do that at some tougher immigration offices. They would just ignore any documentation, ask why you didn't do it online and ask for the 2 grand. Go figure.😎

my online 90 Day stopped working last year! It worked perfectly for years 😵‍💫

mine too although I do all the TM30 myself everytime we come back from an inland trip, we get rejected, for the funniest reasons. Brought the mails to immigration, but they would never admit that its a bug in their software, so we go by person since then.

yes, an officer in KK told me I’ll always have to do it in person from now on!

Now I know that’s rubbish but it’s always an adventure 😉😁👍

Did you by any chance travel in Thailand and the hotel reported your stay?

always. We travel monthly.

But it hasn’t interfered with my online 90 day before!

I had the same issue last month. So many people on here have complained with this exact issue. There is something wrong with the software I think. It seems this has happened to a lot of since since the online server crashes last month and was off line for days.

@Alastair ******
If an hotel where you're staying is doing what they are supposed to do by law,they will submit a TM30 to immigration. Then your online 90 days report will not work. Thats how it officially works.

@Max ************
not true, if you have a permanent residence and go back its not suppose to be an issue. There used to be a video about this. I never had a problem in 5 years until last month

If doing the 90-days report in person, yes. But when doing it online it's officially the latest TM30 that counts. This is a fact.

I’m not sure. I’ve been using the online 90 day for years. My family have travelled regularly through this period. Suddenly the online doesn’t work and an officer tells me I have to come in. Go figure🥴😉😁

@Alastair ******
This I how it's supposed to work if the hotel where you were staying reported you to immigration. If they ask for your passport during check-in, they are usually taking a copy for the TM30.

Thai people have great compassion when it comes to physical or mental health or injuries in my experience.

Interesting. I wondered what would happen if I was sick and missed renewing my visa. One of the Immigration Officers I spoke to some years ago said you will have to start again

You got lucky with some rural hospitality
Matthew *********
That sure would not have happened in bangkok. Good to hear someone in this country has compassion.

In Bangkok you do get a special queue when you have a boot and crutches though.

So while they may not like you being late, your errand there for the 90 day report would be maybe an hour if you are unlucky.

Instead of the whole day wasted there.
