Re-registered my address in Phuket Town this morning. Arrived in BKK on Sept 25th and spent four nights in a hotel before returning to Phuket on Sat 29th. Went to report on Mon 1st but was missing one form (PoA) and was to return next day. That night became very ill with flu, managed to get to hospital on Thurs 4th. Asked for medical certificate which specified number of days I’d been ill plus how many to recuperate. Returned to immigration today, immigration officer was going to fine me, telling me it was strictly 24 hours. I politely explained, gave the medical certificate and all was forgiven. No fine, registration received OK.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shared their experience of re-registering their address in Phuket after a series of events. They faced a potential fine for missing the registration deadline due to illness but were able to provide a medical certificate that explained their situation. The immigration officer accepted the certificate, and no fine was imposed. Comments from the community provided support and raised a question about hotel check-ins and their impact on immigration registration.

So now that your all checked, I've been curious to know. If you check into a hotel for a night and the staff check you in with immigration does that cancel your original check in address?

Yes. I have to do it again. Every night you spend away from your registered address you have to go and re-register. Stupid stupid law but it is Thai law so we must obey

Robert agreed. I’m sure they get lies from open until close so are prepared to work with those willing to work with them

I have always found Thai immigration to be reasonable provided you respect the rules...

Phuket is really a hard core office, but good you had the medical certificate as proof.

I think that’s the lesson here Robert. It is a bit strictly by the rules but I think they acknowledge genuine effort when it has been given
