What is the process for applying for the LTR visa, and who is 'Screen 7' in the BOI?

Anyone had experience of applying for the LTR visa, and 'screen 7' person? Is this a real person or a generic name for the whole department?

I can never speak to them, or anyone else in any position to discuss the opaque rules that the BOI apply. Very distressing.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post questions the experience of applying for the LTR visa and seeks clarification on the role of 'Screen 7' within the BOI. The discussion highlights frustrations with the communication process, where applicants struggle to connect with decision-makers who can provide clarity on the opaque rules applied by the BOI.

Yes, but you can never speak to those making the decision. It's always someone who does not have the details and passes on any message. Have you been able to speak to a decision maker that fully understands the process and all the rules?

The second complication is that I take my pension annually and again they don't appear to understand how one can survive without monthly payments.

Rebecca, thanks. The challenge is that in Australia payments from a superannuation (pension) fund are not subject to tax and not even reported to the tax authorities. The only evidence is statements showing the payments and corresponding bank statements showing the transfer of funds. Which the BOI claim is not passive income.

also, the rules are unusually clear I think. What is it that you need help with? Perhaps someone here can give you an answer.

if screen 7 is even a person, it's just a paper pusher that is doing data entry and processing. It's still not going to be the person making the decision.

I'm not sure what you mean you can never talk to them? They're very receptive to phone calls.
