TLDR : Answer Summary
In response to the query about applying for a DTV visa through the Australian consulate, users report that the process is generally easy and can be completed through the e-visa portal, taking a few weeks including any potential requests for additional documents. There are existing threads about submissions from Australia. It's clarified that the consulate reference should pertain to the Thai consulate in Australia, prompting advice to start the application process on the visa portal if not already done.

If you haven't already done so, signup for the visa application portal and get the process going. I had mine sitting there half-finished for a couple of weeks.

If you have any specific questions, then fire away, but the process is pretty straightforward.

Nice try... ๐Ÿ˜

Easy and straightforward through e-visa portal. Took a couple of weeks including extra docs request.

@Nikita ***********
may I ask what docs you provided? I am about to submit as I have my own ABN and want to make sure I submit all at once ๐Ÿ™

tax reports, financials, ASIC company extracts, etc.

How many weeks exactly and what extra docs did they request?
Gerry ********
@Lance *****
mine took 8 days. Nobody can quote an exact processing time. You're application goes in a queue.

@Gerry *******
of course but it's good to get some real life examples for a general idea. So far I can expect up to 3 weeks at the latest
Gerry ********
@Lance *****
they'll say how long it could take.

They ask you about your travel plans, but don't require any evidence.

It is speculated that they ask about your travel plans, in order to potentially prioritise applications. I don't think anyone actually knows this for sure though.

@Gerry *******
so did you provide them a copy of your flight invoice? Or just tell them when you plan on arriving?
Gerry ********
@Lance *****
I hadn't booked anything when I applied. I just entered the date when I expected to enter Thailand. That's what they ask for.

Have you signed up and started the online application process? Some questions will be answered once you're logged in and actually doing it.

@Gerry *******
Yeah I've done everything I'm just waiting on the cash. I was gonna buy my tickets too but good to know I won't need to just yet
Gerry ********
@Lance *****
It's common with any visa application to use estimated dates, since, in many cases, you wouldn't dare to book the flight until you know you have the visa approved.
Lance ******
@Gerry *******
yeah I figured so but I thought I read they needed to see the flight booking. Glad it was wrong info.

@Lance *****
12 days from application to approval, including a request for extra docs related to running own business

Ah not long at all. Thanks
