Let's wait until 30 day exempt entry stamps start appearing in passports before we start worrying about the DTV.

Your friend is a Visa Agent talking about the DTV which most people apply for themselves. Let me guess he offers expedited DTVs before they take it away huh?

The soft power will have to change (only in my opinion). When who knows. Most of these classes can be done with METV. But nobody is taking 5 years of cooking classes. I’m sure it’s an inside joke to many officials. Living on a tourist visa was not there idea. But look people are using the tourist visa in Vietnam for the same use. Eventually countries will expect you to travel and not border bounce. This visa should be only for digital nomads but even still the term nomad means travel the world. Not setting roots.

They might adjust the soft power to realistic levels, only so many green curries one can make in 5 years.

Generally, the Thai government prefers to not do such things retroactively.

When they considered shuttering down Thailand Elite circa 2007-8 they were explicit that existing members wouldn't be damaged...

well the 60 day visa it only been out for Nellie 2 years and it's going back to 30 days so it would not surprised me if do that if the DTV visa as it still class as a tourist visa

DTV visa has closed a lot of businesses that were guiding elite, retirement visas, visa runs and charging fortune for that. How can a 10K Baht visa compete against that; that's their only problem.

lol, if someone gets that line, they’re definitely more likely to be going retirement visa than DTV.

Yes. Unfortunately DTV has become perceived as a backpacker visa. Thai banks don’t even want to touch it with a stick …

I would not be listening to anyone except news from the govt, especially not a Pattaya Visa Agent. If there were any plans for the DTV in the short term they would have been discussed along with the other changes just announced for other visa types.

When STV visas were introduced after COVID, they stopped extending them as soon as they were cancelled. No one warned that a nine-month visa would turn into a three-month one.

Is this visa agent losing money because of the DTV? Retirement and ED visa sales down?

Wouldn’t trust a law firm on a topic they don’t control. They’re almost the same as agents everything is fine (and will be fine for you) until it isn’t. Law firms will also help set up companies, the same ones that are being cracked down on right now.
Andi ***********
Andi ***********

Not sarcasm 😊. A Law firm, it makes sense to reapply once your visa expires but need to wait to have the official confirmation..

Those talks have been mentioned since the DTV started. Recent news reported the DTV was not going anywhere soon but Embassies are stepping up approval.
