TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the limits of tourist visas issued from the Savannakhet consulate in Laos. Users discuss their personal experiences, mentioning that after 3 or 4 tourist visas, one may receive a warning stamp indicating that further visas may not be issued from that consulate. It is advised to consider alternating consulates, with a suggestion to try the Vientiane consulate.

If I'm flying back into Thailand over a six month period is there any limits on how many times I fly in, I plan to use Thailand as my base and visit other countries in Asia.

in theory, nope there is no official limit to the number of visa exempt entry stamps you can get entering by air. however be prepared to be grilled by an immigration officer at some point after you've gotten a few in a row. You could be asked to show proof of funds, onward travel and a hotel booking too.

Brian, stating there is no limit is a little incorrect. :/
There definitely is a limit to the number of tourist visas a consulate will issue before you get warning stamped.
It seems to vary from consulate to consulate and Vientiane will issued 3 or 4 before they stamp you.
Now how you've managed to pull 7 tourist visas in the same passport from the same thai consulate I got no idea :O .
BUT be that as it may, there definitely IS a limit and at some point you will get the warning stamp in your passport..

Tod Daniels If we have new passport (old passport already with red stamp) will i get tourist visa from same consulate ( Vientiane)?

Brian, it pretty much means you can't use that thai consulate or another one in that country if there is more than one.
You can (as of now) get a new passport. That "wipes the slate clean" because the consulates don't use a data base, they just thumb thru your passport looking for visas to thailand.
FWIW those warning stamps look like this

You should be ok for 1 more. After 3 or 4 they might stamp your passport that you wont be issued another one from that consulate. Try mixing it up and using a different consulate. I would suggest going to Vientiene rather than Savanakhet.

Teddy. If you've got a new passport then you should be ok. No computer records at the consulate.
