Question: Initially, I heard tourists would get 45 days upon entering Thailand for the whole of 2023. Now I heard that this has been revised and those coming in at the end of this month will only be given 30 days?

Anyone with the latest news on this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The tourist visa duration in Thailand is set to revert to 30 days starting April 1, 2023. The temporary extension to 45 days that was implemented will conclude at the end of March. Although there were speculations about extending the 45-day period, there has been no official confirmation due to political circumstances, including the dissolution of parliament. Travelers arriving after March 31 should prepare for the standard 30-day visa allocation.

It was only to last till the end of March this year, but there is no word as yet if the 45 day visa exempt will be extended.

45 Day's no Tea money??
Stuart *********
Flip a coin. Heads it will be extended. Tails it won’t. Or was that the other way I forget. Anyways we will know for sure in 11-12 days.
Dick **********
Parliament dissolved today. Nothing will be announced until Parliament sits again.

@Dick *********
either its announced there will be an extension soon or there won't be one. They're not going to only announce an extension in May, bypassing April.

It may not end. Thing is, you won’t know until a day or so before it was set to run out. They did the same mess with the covid extensions. There is no reliable planning in Thailand. TiT. My guess is that it will be extended on short notice.

There were plenty of publications stating all of 2023 yes but I have not heard a confirmation on that. I guess we'll soon find out.

@Darren *******************
not one credible source has said all of 2023. Ever

@Todd ********
I didn't say credible. I was just confirming what the OP says she read in the past.
Jeremy ********
From what we learned during the covid extensions is that it’s never a certain thing until the last day…TiT is all I’ll say
Todd *********
It was always going to end Mar 31. Plan for 30 days if arriving after Mar 31

@Todd ********
That's not true. Same with Covid extension, we will only know a day or two in advance.

@Maxim **********
At this point it's totally true. Any sound advice is from April 1st the entry stamp reverts to 30 days because this date has been published. It may (or may not) be extended but that's a "fingers crossed" strategy, and be that at your own peril!
Todd *********
@Maxim **********
no Max, it’s actually precisely true. At no point has the Thai government given ANY indication the 45 days would be extended. Could they change their minds at last minute as with Covid? For sure. But there has never been a govt plan to extend it.
Frank **********
You have that backwards.
Brandon ************
It was never for the whole year. It was temporarily increased to 45 days through March 2023. As of April 1st it will revert back to normal.

The tourist agency has asked for it to be continued through the year, but parliament was just dissolved and it has not been extended yet, so take that as you will.
