ORIGINAL POSTER
Had an awesome visa run in Vientiane. Arrived at the embassy on Wednesday, 12 September at 07.30 and was number 29 in line. Counting the time waiting for the gate to open, I was in and out in less than an hour and a half. Went there this afternoon at 13.25 and was out in less than 20 minutes. A couple of repeat visitors said this was highly unusual. Thanks to this group for all of its help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their positive experience completing a visa run in Vientiane, noting a quick processing time at the embassy with minimal waiting despite arriving early in the morning. The feedback from others in the comments indicates that Mondays and Tuesdays can be crowded due to group tours, but waiting times in the afternoon tend to be shorter, reflecting improvements in the embassy's processing speed.

Monday and Tuesday are typically more crowded because the group tour are there. And typically the waiting the next afternoon is shorter, they give passport back at lightning speed, they have really improved the speed over the years.
