TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking advice on how long a visa extension process might take at the Chiang Mai immigration office, particularly after having received a tourist visa at the Mae Sai border. Comments suggest that arriving at either 10 AM or 2 PM may yield quicker service, estimating a processing time of around 30 to 45 minutes, while cautioning against arriving at 11 AM due to a lunch break.

11 AM is bad because they take an hour break around lunch. The best time is either earlier or afternoon like John said above.

You did not receive a tourist visa, you receive a visa-exempt entry (30 days + 30 days extension). A tourist visa is given at a Thai consulate and is good for 60 days + 30 days extension.

IMO 10am or 2pm are better. Probably around 30 minutes.

If you've already got your passport photo and photocopies of your passport pages, I would guess around 30 to 45 minutes.
