I know the visa on arrival for flights increased to 45 days, but what about the visa on arrival coming back from Laos across the river?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The current status for visa policies indicates that visa-exempt entry to Thailand has been increased to 45 days, applicable to all entry points, including land crossings from Laos. However, the visa on arrival (VOA) duration has changed from 15 to 30 days. The distinction between the two types of entry (visa-exempt and visa on arrival) is important to understand: visa-exempt entry does not require a visa fee and is marked in the passport as an entry stamp, while the visa on arrival requires a fee of 2000 THB.

You are mixing visa-exempt entry with visa on arrival.

Visa-exempt entry is now 45 days including entry by land, but VOA (which you need to pay for the 2000thb visa fee) is now 30 days from the 15 days normal.

, I can assume you have only an entry stamp, not a visa stamp if you entered Thailand for free of visa fee.

Sorry, I had the terminology wrong, so I guess I meant visa-exempt (which is weird because they stamp a visa in one's passport).

It's not visa on arrival, it's visa exempt (you don't need a visa). 45 days everywhere you enter
